विजय पथ से राजपथ तक गणतंत्र दिवस की परेड का आगाज हो या सेना दिवस परेड की अगवानी...भारतीय सेना की जयपुर स्थित देश की एकमात्र घुड़सवार सेना (61 कैवलरी) में घोड़ों की टाप हर भारतीय के जहन में अनमोल विरासत के तौर पर दर्ज है। मगर जल्द ही इसे खत्म करके नई आर्म्ड रेजीमेंट में तब्दील करने की तैयारी है। हाल ही में आर्मी चीफ जनरल एमएम नरवणे ने इस प्रस्ताव की जानकारी दी थी।
इसके पीछे कोविड 19 के कारण कॉस्ट कटिंग का हवाला दिया जा रहा है। दरअसल, 2016 में ले. जनरल डीबी शेकाटकर के नेतृत्व में गठित कमेटी की रिपोर्ट के आधार पर यह प्रस्ताव दिया गया है। इस कैवलरी के 232 घाेड़ाें काे जयपुर से दिल्ली भेजा जाएगा, जिनका इस्तेमाल सिर्फ खास सेरेमाेनियल माैकाें पर हाेगा। ऐसे में सेना के पास प्रेजीडेंट्स बाॅडी गार्ड्स के रूप में सिर्फ एक घुड़सवार इकाई रह जाएगी।
उपलब्धियांः11 अर्जुन अवॉर्ड और 10 एशियन गेम्स अवॉर्ड जीत चुकी
पाेलाे और इक्वेस्ट्रियन स्पाेर्ट्स प्रमाेट करने के उद्देश्य से बनाई गई 61 कैवलरी ने इन गेम्स में 11 अर्जुन अवाॅर्ड और 10 एशियन गेम्स अवाॅर्ड जीते। 2011 और 2017 की वर्ल्ड पाेलाे चैम्पियनशिप में पहला स्थान जीता। 1971 के इंडाे-पाक युद्ध और 1961 के ऑपरेशन विजय में भी बड़ी भूमिका निभाई थी।
आगे की योजनाः सेना सशक्तिकरण के लिए नए अर्जुन टैंक बनवा रही
रिपाेर्ट्स के अनुसार, सेना सशक्तिकरण के लिए नए T-90 और अर्जुन टैंक तैयार किए जा रहे हैं। ऐसे में नए आर्म्ड रेजीमेंट के कमांडिंग ऑफिसर काे जयपुर में तीन इंडिपेंडेंट T-72 टैंक स्क्वाड्रन की कमांड और कंट्राेल दिया जाएगा। 61 कैवलरी को इसी नई आर्म्ड रेजीमेंट में मर्ज करने की तैयारी है।
67 साल पहले शुरुआतः मराठा, राजपूत व कैमखनी मुस्लिम ही भर्ती होते थे
1951 में कैवलरी यूनिट काे ग्वालियर लांसर्स, मैसूर लांसर्स, सेकंड पटियाला लांसर्स, जाेधपुर कच्छवाहा लांसर्स और बी स्क्वाड्रन में तब्दील किया गया। 1953 में इन सभी काे 61 कैवलरी रेजीमेंट का हिस्सा बनाया गया। बता दें कि रेजीमेंट की खास परंपराओंकाे जीवित रखने के लिए पंडित नेहरू के आदेश के मुताबिक, इस रेजीमेंट में सिर्फ मराठा, राजपूत और कैमखनी मुस्लिम की नियुक्ति हाे सकती थी।
विरोधः घोड़े दिल्ली भेजने का कोई औचित्य नहीं, कितनी बचत होगी?

• जयपुर में इन घाेड़ाें के लिए देश के सबसे उम्दा स्टेबल हैं। उन्हें दिल्ली भेजने का काेई औचित्य नहीं दिखता। ये रेजीमेंट कई भारतीय वंशाें व राजघरानाें से जुड़ी थी। इसे मर्ज करने से आखिर सेना की कितनी बचत हाे जाएगी।- कर्नल एचएस (बिली) साेढ़ी, 61 कैवलरी रेजीमेंट के सबसे पुराने सदस्य
• 61 कैवलरी ने सेना की बाकी इकाइयाें के मुकाबले सबसे ज्यादा मेडल जीते हैं और वाे भी न्यूनतम संसाधनाें के साथ। काॅस्ट कटिंग के नाम पर हटाने से सेना की विरासत से जुड़ी अहम कड़ी टूटेगी।- कर्नल राजेश पट्टू, 61 कैवलरी के कमांडिंग ऑफिसर रह चुके हैं।

 Achievements: Won 11 Arjuna Awards and 10 Asian Games Awards
 The 61 Cavalry, created with the aim of promoting the Paley and Equestrian sports, won 11 Arjuna Awards and 10 Asian Games Awards in these games.  Won first place at the 2011 and 2017 World Palette Championships.  The Indo-Pak War of 1971 and Operation Vijay of 1961 also played a big role.

 Plan Ahead: New Arjun tanks are being built for army empowerment
 According to reports, new T-90 and Arjun tanks are being designed for army empowerment.  In such a situation, the commanding officer of the new armed regiment will be given the command and control of three independent T-72 tank squadrons in Jaipur.  Preparation is on to merge 61 cavalry into this new armed regiment.

 67 years ago: Marathas, Rajputs and Camakhni Muslims were recruited.

 In 1951 the cavalry unit was converted into Gwalior Lancers, Mysore Lancers, Second Patiala Lancers, Jedhpur Kachhwaha Lancers and B Squadron.  All of these were made part of the 61 Cavalry Regiment in 1953.  According to the order of Pandit Nehru, to keep alive the particular traditions of the regiment, only Maratha, Rajput and Kaimkhani Muslims could be appointed in this regiment.

 Opposition: There is no justification for sending horses to Delhi, how much will be saved?

 Jaipur has the best stable in the country for these losses.  There is no justification for sending him to Delhi.  This regiment was associated with many Indian people and royalty.  How much of the army's savings will be saved by merging it. - Colonel HS (Billy) Sedhi, the oldest member of the 61 Cavalry Regiment

 61 cavalry have won the most medals as compared to the rest of the army units and also with the least resources.  Removal in the name of cost cutting will break the critical link in the army's legacy. - Colonel Rajesh Pattu, 61 has been the commanding officer of the cavalry.


 232 jails of this cavalry will be sent from Jaipur to Delhi, which will be used only on special ceremonial marks.
