कोरोनावायरस से जूझ रहे राजस्थान के लिए टिडि्डयां नई मुसीबत बन गई हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र की खाद्य एवं कृषि एजेंसी के शीर्ष अधिकारी कीथ क्रेसमैन ने चेतावनी दी है कि करोड़ों टिड्डियां जल्द भारत पर हमला बोल सकती हैं। वजह ये है कि भारत-पाकिस्तानबॉर्डर के राजस्थान वाले हिस्से में मध्य जून में दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी टिड्डी ब्रीडिंग होगी।
इससे करीब 8 हजार करोड़ टिडि्डयां पैदा होंगी। बड़ी चिंता इसलिए भी है क्योंकि ये आम टिड्डियां नहीं हैं बल्कि मरुस्थलीय टिड्डियां हैं। इन्हें फसलों के लिए दुनिया का सबसे विनाशकारी प्रवासी कीट माना जाता है। गंगानगर, बीकानेर, जैसलमेर, जोधपुर, बाड़मेर, नागौर, चूरू, जालौर, सिरोही जिले में टिड्डी का हमला हो सकता है।
आखिर ब्रीडिंग यहीं क्यों?
- भारत में 1 जून से मानसून की दस्तक हो जाती है। टिड्डियों को अंडे देने के लिए नमी की जरूरत होती है। क्योंकि यह डेजर्ट टिड्डी है, इसलिए इसे रेतीला इलाका ज्यादा आसान लगता है।
- भारत-पाक बॉर्डर के बीच नमी ज्यादा होने से टिड्डी को ये इलाका बहुत पसंद आता है।
- अमूमन 15 जून के आसपास प्री मानसून की बारिश से होने वाली बिजाई और हरियाली टिड्डी को खूब लुभाती है। वे पेट भरते हुए ब्रीडिंग करती हैं।
जयपुर में कृषि विभाग के संयुक्त सचिव एसपी सिंह ने बताया किअभी जहां टिड्डियां हैं उनको मारा भी जा रहा है। लेकिन यह ग्लोबल प्रॉब्लमहै। इसलिए केंद्र से भी आग्रह किया गया कि विश्व स्तर पर इसके नियंत्रण के प्रयास किए जाएं। बेहतर होगा कि इन्हें अंडे देने से पहले ही मार दिया जाए।
Locusts have become a new problem for Rajasthan struggling with coronavirus. They are considered the world's most destructive migratory pests for crops. Locust attacks may occur in Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, Nagaur, Churu, Jalore, Sirohi districts.
Why is breeding here?
There is a knock of monsoon in India from 1 June. Locusts require moisture to lay eggs. Because it is a desert locust, it finds sandy terrain much easier.
Locusts like this area very much due to the high humidity between Indo-Pak borders.
Usually, the pre-monsoon rain around June 15 attracts the sowing and green grasshopper. They breed while feeding.
Efforts required at the center level
Joint Secretary of Agriculture Department in Jaipur SP Singh said that where locusts are now, they are also being killed. But this is a global problem. Therefore, the Center was also requested to make efforts to control it globally. It is better to kill them before laying eggs.
Apart from India, locusts have become a big problem in Pakistan too.
